Even Loganair now switch you to firm 24 hours before if they don’t expect to be full, so you can check-in online and go to gate. So much less hassle for everyone - you can still be offloaded if something happens. Why BA can’t sort this is so poor.
It should be obvious. the way the BA network works any delays/cancelations from LH or SH flights connecting to SH or LH flights with transiting PAX might need to be rebooked last minute so why would they voluntarily confirm seats for staff travelers?
This isn't a problem for easyJet or Loganair.
