At least one Russian drone of Iranian production, Shahed-136, violated NATO airspace, crossing the Romanian border from Vylkove, Odesa Oblast towards Năvodari, jud. Constanța, Romania.
It violated Romanian airspace from approximately 02:40 to 03:30. It flew more than 70 km from the border towards Razim Lake and then, it exited over the Black Sea.
The Romanian Air Force lifted F-16s from the ground, but did not shoot down the drone. The most likely reason was to protect civilians.
The Russian drone flew over populated areas!
When the first drone crashed in Ceatalchioi, Romania, on Sept 7, 23, I wrote that it was not a deliberate Russian attack but I added that we should expect constant violations of Romanian (and thus NATO) airspace because Russia's interest is to create vulnerabilities in the political area of the Alliance, but also to create fear among civilians. This war is a war not only for territories, but also for minds! People's minds!
I am waiting for the "firm" reaction of our allies, because I cannot expect much from the local politicians.
When will we learn?
