I read that the border area was partially demined by the ruskis to prepare for their own future invasion.
The
Kursk offensive will probably bog down into the same positional fighting we see everywhere before long. Which means the AFU can potentially hold onto it for awhile so long as they throw additional manpower in that direction. As justified as it is to improve populace moral and narrative for Ukraine, it's going to have the long-term effect of exhausting their reserves faster. (which was the idea behind Russia's Kharkiv incursion three months prior - convenient for Russia that Ukraine decided to accelerate the process even more)
