I have every single one of those (Chinese) ports in my logbook. It had its challenges (mainly in summer), but we were compensated well and had well trained colleagues.

In comparison to long haul the frequency alone could be draining. The fixed leave period scheme helped with that. Not sure when and where this fellow was flying if he did not hear a single plane in China sporting the Dragon call sign, we were all over the place.

Anyway I hear that at least training is a bit more relaxed in CX, which is good. Generally it was pretty relaxed in KA too, except for the command course where things definitely got more intense. That said it did prepare you for the short haul operation in and out of China quite well.

All that aside the real question is: how is HKG now to live in, in comparison to how it used to be? Has it really changed that much? Getting mixed signals from different places and given that it has been almost 4 years since I have been it may be time to have a look soon.

In the very least the opportunity bears examination. The company was extinguished abruptly and somewhere it feels correct to at least get the opportunity to return to what was our old working place. That said it would not be KA we return to and it may not be for everyone. Times change, circumstances do too. In the end its good its happening in my opinion and best of luck to everyone that applied.
