The KA 320 operation was the most difficult in the Group, in my opinion, for many reasons. It was dumbed down in the end ( no circling evaluation in every sim for example ) and I hear it’s been dumbed down even further. 30-40 sectors a month into China is gruelling. That’s a what? 5 times or 10 times more exposure to operational accountability than Group long haul. Just Culture did evolve, but at its worst, crews making minor errors, were irrelevantly re-trained in the sim under jeopardy, doing heavy weight V1 cuts out of high altitude Chinese aerodromes. Meanwhile at CX, we were bemused they couldn’t even get the cruise right, and had to wear headsets transiting Chinese airspace.

It will be fascinating the burn out rate once ( or if ) CX gets its 321’s back up toward the number of flights into China of old. Granted HKEX picking up the slack.

Shudder. Stick to long haul if you want an easy life.
