Eligibility for under R-ATPL

I'm attending a Canadian post-secondary aviation program (University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada) and am interested to know if this would make me eligible for a R-ATP license in the US. I'm a dual American/Canadian citizen and I know I can convert my license in a fairly straightforward way for the US (and if anyone has any advice on how to best investigate this, please leave a comment as it would be greatly appreciated to help me on my journey ). I realize that pilots are hired on average far beyond even the 1500hr FAA minimum, but I still am wondering if anyone knows how I could verify this about my program, given that select post-secondary programs in the US are eligible for this type of licensing.

Any help is appreciated!
