I'm absolutely no fan of Scholz, but he has done some things that were certainly against the existing SPD DNA.
1) E 100 Bn one-off cash injection to modernise the Bundeswehr
2) Sacked the useless Defence Minister Lambrecht and appointed Pistorious who is more in tune with the military and its needs
3) Pledged ( no date ) to meet NATO 2% target
4) After slow start finally taken its position as second-largest arms-donor to Ukraine.
5) There is a new debate about military service, although not being compulsory.
The only area he is still sharply out of step is with the supply of Taurus cruise-missiles which now makes little sense, since GB/France have given unlimited scope for cruise missiles to be used on Russian soil, and the US has given a limited freedom of use
