I've met some very good crewing officers, Helen B is a fine example.
Sadly there were a lot of incompetents who try to blame the crews fo their mistakes. I resorted to taping every telephone conversation. They knew every conversation was taped as there was a warning on my taped answerphone message. You may ask what happened to the master tape down at HQ. That had a habit of going "missing" when the crewing officer was in the wrong. I always sent a copy of my tape when there was a query and that had a habit of going "missing".
Lastly I had a different telephone number for crewing to ring me on which gave a different ring. I remember my next door neighbours' nine year old son telling me one morning that whilst I was out that the phone kept ringing, but "not to worry as it was only crewing"
