Russia: Platan Electronics Research Institute on fire in Moscow. At least 8 employees dead. "Devices developed by the Platan Research Institute are used in the most important systems of military, missile, aviation, instrument-making, and radio-electronic equipment."
Platan components are in all Russian combat and civil aircraft, all nuclear ship and submarine missile carriers, long-range radar and space detection systems, military and civil airfields, radio reconnaissance systems, air defense missile systems (S-type), and guided munitions.
Eyewitness in a neighboring building said there was a loud explosion on the 6th floor of the military contractor Platan Research Institute which blew out the windows and started the fire. In 20 minutes the fire spread to the entire building.
