The jettisoning system on the BAe146 aircraft has proved very reliable and has 2 methods, a primary and emergency dump for getting rid of the load. I think it would be extremely unlikely that following an engine failure both jettisoning methods would fail, it certainly would not be a good day for you. However, the performance requirements are such that the aircraft should climb away safely at V2 with the load still on board, so jettisoning, it would be a bonus and would always be a consideration.
