Just to be clear, any comparisons to Japanese mainline ANA pilots would not be relevant to this conversation. There are a few non-mainline Japanese pilots working for Air Japan. They are living in a different world from foreign pilots working on the commuting contract. True, Air Japan is recruiting a handful of Japanese DECs each year but not enough to hinder the upgrade program. That continues as it did pre-Covid. Initially Air Japan accepted applications for foreign residents. That is no longer happening. Now Air Japan will not hire foreign a foreign resident.
