I used to drive from Derbyshire to LGW for two dayshifts, then back up, then down again for two nightshifts then back up. Once woke up at Toddington services at 1430, having pulled in at 1030 for five minutes break. Yes, my choice to do it in the first place, but family commitments came first.
If it was me, I'd find the cheapest local room possible for the duration of duty. It may well be crap, but after a hard nightshift, it might literally save your life!
