For the first time since the State's borders reopened, the number of international flights surged beyond previous levels at the start of the year, with close to 1,000 international and nearly 1,780 interstate inbound flights across January.
Not that anyone would ever doubt something coming off the desk of the Western Australian Deputy Premier; Treasurer; Minister for Transport; Minister for Tourism, the Honourable Rita Saffioti (giving the late Russ Hinze a run for his money in the Minister for Everything stakes) but the BITRE international numbers seem to contradict that. The BITRE international stats are as follows:

January 2020
Passengers
Inbound 238,157
Outbound 204, 575
Total 442,732
Flights
Inbound 1,045
Outbound 1,044
