Join any SO cadet programme CPL-> B737/A320 be it FlyDubai or some A320 operator preferably in Egypt, and after 5 years and 2000 jetliner hrs move back to US?
Long shot, but the finance should play out with two added benefits:
+ will appreciate the US for life
+ will quench the thrist of expat lifestyle and the roots calling for the ancestral region (two birds)

At the proper age which he seems to be, workable?
Yes could be workable, however not having ANY (literal) part 121 time previous to jumping overseas MAY limit opportunities upon return to the US and possibly delay a quick upgrade even though you would be well qualified m, see 121.436(a)(3). It also will delay your PRIA paperwork getting processed as it will require “good faith” exemption processing which depending on carrier might delay your class date…. All of which would also require you converting your ATP once you get it as an expat which will be more than a simple paperwork exercise…. Also correct me if I’m wrong but don’t those SO programs require one to pay for the corresponding type rating? That kind of wipes out any financial benefit to your idea.
