The problem you run into with trying to take away the 'golden parachutes' is that - in most cases - the retirement packages are contractually agreed to ahead of time (usually when they are hired or promoted). I understand that “this is the way it is”, but seems like it’s only true for the rich and powerful. An incompetent or poorly performing engineer is not treated so graciously.
