Most commuters ask crewing to pre allocate trips from open time when they’re on reserve. Sometimes it works, sometimes you end up in a hotel for part of reserve. It’s a good time to catch up on the FCOM etc.

Reserve can be a good way to get weekends off if you bid cleverly.
