I think we are at cross purposes here. The removal from the battlefield of a Russian pilot by any means has to be a good thing. In the last big conflict, if any pilot was shot down over enemy territory he would either be 'dealt with' by resistance/vigilantes or be hors de combat for the duration. If he came down over friendly territory he would very likely be returned to flying duties as soon as he was fit - which surely reinforces the case for taking out pilots just as Ukraine appears to be now doing?
