It has long been a tactic to wound a soldier in the hopes of drawing out more soldiers to rescue him and then shooting as many as possible. . You are correct in saying that Red Cross-marked medics seem to be totally absent, although I don't think many Russians would respect the markings.
For that very reason we have always had bombs with time delay fuses, fact of war I’m afraid.
