The explanation about being heavy and full was a bit much, but not impolite.
There is a difference between going on a bit much and being rude. Everyone knows that certain airports in the USA have a reputation for being crass and this is the sort of controlling that sustains that reputation.
If pilots started routinely speaking to controllers like that every time the controlling left something to be desired, it would be disrespectful to the professional controller who is doing their human best at a difficult job. Luckily they’re either too busy trying to go down and slow down, or just too darn nice….not sure which
