+1 - yes it can be a minefield - for all the reasons you quote - teaching "old dogs" new tricks by a "new dog" who doesn't understand the "old dog's" history or background is another element.

You can substitute the dog analogy to "culture" if needed.

"What's it doing now?" is not unique to helicopters.
