Giving Ukraine long range weapons is a double edged sword. They may well hold back Russian supply lines, but they also present the risk of a major attack on Moscow, which could be a trigger for all out war between Russia and the West. My vote would be to give Ukraine everything they need and to hell with the consequences, but those in European states closer to Russia may well not share that view.
There has to be trust, they already had provided weapons that could hit into Russia and bar the use of a couple of vehicles they haven’t.
The Ukrainians are not stupid, they know the risks involved if used on Russia and that the supply line would cease overnight, they are not stupid enough to risk that as it is their lifeline to freeing their Country..
Long range missiles of the type we are talking about wouldn’t cause significant damage to a city the size of Moscow anyway.
