My apologies for the delay in getting back to you. Yes, Glevum's got it.

The Cross Ladybird was built by David Cecil Cross, out of materials available to him in Chatton, Eastern Southland, New Zealand. Initial trials with a four cylinder motorcycle engine were not successful due to a lack of power. After re-engining with the engine from the 1911 Pither aeroplane, he did manage two flights breaking the undercarriage on landing the second time. After repairs he made several more flights but finally crashed in a turnip paddock injuring himself on the edges of the seat, made from an oil drum. Finally the authorities caught up with David Cross; earning him the distinction of being the first pilot to be prosecuted in New Zealand for flying without a licence.
