Since we began the journey of Luton 2040, many hundreds of families have been taken out of poverty.
However inflation, cost of living and other external factors remain out of our control.
And 40% of our wonderful young people are still living in poverty. Thousands of young people that aren't able to eat breakfast before school.
We must and will eradicate poverty from Luton!
The expansion of London Luton Airport is fundamental to Luton 2040. 11,000 new jobs and over a £1billion added to the local economy each year. Millions of pounds of extra funding for public and community sectors. The town's future and fate will be in its own hands.
And our airport company will not allow it to come at the expense of the environment, with the most far reaching sustainability measures and controls ever put forward by a UK airport.
This week I'll be making this case as part of the DCO open floor hearings.
