So Manx states quite rightly that most people don’t care about aircraft noise so long as it doesn’t affect them and pabely quite rightly states that people demand next day deliveries and cheap flights, as a night ban would affect them. I don’t disagree with either of those statements but that doesn’t mean a night ban shouldn’t be introduced.
As already established by Luton Airport, the DHL A300 is noisier than the newer A321Neo, which is noisier than the A320 it is replacing so let’s start by banning the A300. Then ban the A321Neo then ban the A320 operating overnight. I am not convinced by the argument that cheaper fares and an overnight parcel from Germany is a reason for leaving things as they are. If someone has to pay a higher fare to get to their destination then so be it. They also won’t like the taxes they pay but they put up with it. If there are less flights then that reduces pollution and emissions and is good for the planet.
What we have established here is that everyone is only interested in number one, it’s human nature and it won’t change.
