I am not sure what is at Halifax anymore as far as flight training. I believe there is something at Shearwater (CYAW). It's actually closer to downtown Halifax but can't testify as to the quality or status. There is an excellent facility at Moncton (CYQM) however. Unfortunately it is about a 21/2 hour drive from downtown Halifax. Here is the link if you're interested.
