Now VA is turning a profit I’d expect the same outrage against them for what they did to their mum and dad investors ripping them off, ah we are in Australia tho free to do what you like.
For an indication of how even-handed both politics and the media are just look how the issue of flight credits has been handled. Qantas had, in aggregate, $570 million in flight credits (roughly 3.5 percent of revenue) that were due to expire on 31 December this year. We know the level of opprobrium that drew from various quarters, and rightly so. The outcome was, in part, an extension of the expiry period.

Virgin holds $420.2 million of flight credits (about 9 percent of revenue) that are currently due to expire by 31 December 2023. A fair chunk of that is money punters had paid for fares back in early 2020. No extension announced, and ... (crickets). Where are the accusations that Bain are in the process of stealing nearly half a billion from Australian travellers?

When Madam Sports Rorts and her happy band of inquisitors had Jayne in for a chat, the most directed questioning seemed to be about what she knew about Jetstar.
