Yes and Avion, Heston pilots stay in the tent during their free days which is usually 8 to 10 days per 20-21 days (not to mention unpaid leaves during winter) or they don’t have families that are in need of accommodation in their home country. Unless your are young single guy who is staying at parents or friend for free what you say is not valid for those pilots.
For a family house in Riga you need way more than 1000 per month for rent. If you give the same money for a loan you can buy an apartment at home country. In case of a family you will need to pay for private english speaking school which is quite expensive. Wife can have a job in home country, I don't think it is easy to find a job here without speaking Latvian. With Avion or Heston due commuting roster you have choices how to spend your salary. With non commuting roster the only choices is how to spend the couple hundred euros left after paying for the basics
