B-52 Divert…..2x B-52’s from Minot had to divert into Fairford this morning due to being refused entry into French airspace! “Bush 11 flt” had routed across the Atlantic, apparently en route to Ostrava. On approaching French airspace, onward routing was not permitted due to “flight plan issues”. Apparently on speaking with both Swanwick and their Ops back in the US, they could not get onward clearance! A divert to Mildenhall was initially sought, but in the end Fairford was chosen. Both aircraft had to hold for 3-4 hours off the southwest of England, in order to burn off fuel to meet landing weight…This due to the fact that they would need to land at Fairford without drogue chutes as no B-52 ground crews currently are at Fairford
