I tried to join the AAC at school leaving time and yes there was a procedure for direct entry to the Corps rather than via another 'arm' of the Army; only 6 per year were accepted via this route.
I was told it would be Mons OCS at Aldershot then Middle Wallop for basic fixed wing with Chipmunks followed by being 'streamed' either to Beavers (when I applied they were just getting rid of Austers) or conversion to Sioux for basic rotary. It was only a Short Service Commission but I would be allowed to transfer to another Army role at the end of my flying career.
I had already been through OASC for the RAF and failed however on the strength of this, and the fact I had a lot of Air Cadet gliding under my belt, I was sent to CME for a medical which I failed (bugger)!
Later in life, I managed several flights with the AAC in Siouxs and Scouts and much later, a solitary trip with an AAC Test Pilot in a Puma plus a flight in a Lynx (but that was an Army Lynx with a Navy test pilot!).
