The point is that in your local supermarket the smokes are behind closed doors to not attract youngsters, but not at Airports?!
Cigarettes in UK airports are to be behind screened off areas, showing no branding. As a regular through LTN, i dont recall noticing a "wall" of cigarettes. Why you saw them visible as you passed through, i can only imagine that they were moving the area around and was a temporary move.

If people want to purchase cigarettes they will,they are hardly an impulse buy. Afterall no ones forcing anyone to purchase them. If anything, the government makes more money from the potential illness they may cause over tax they make from them... but thats another story altogether. Big pharmas paradise...
