Today I have reflected on what charities have said at the DCO. All were fearful of losing funding yet funding from LRT has halved in recent years as money is diverted into servicing its debts. They assume that a bigger Luton means more money but the truth could be the exact opposite.
Also while they crowed about receiving a few thousand here and there and that LRT is a provider of small grants no one has picked up on the fact that if LRT has not spent around £60m on the DCO and £309m on the Dart, that is yet to add a single passenger, then the charities would be quids in.
Also wearing Council lanyards while speaking was not a convincing look that they had not been nobbled or in fact worked for the Council. Active Luton, who run the towns leisure centres, for the Council, was a good example.
