The only tax we reclaim is VAT where it was added beforehand - as is the case with anything business related in the EU.

The fuel tax (mineral oil tax) exemption is indeed only possible for commercial operators, despite a ruling a few years back by the highest financial court in Germany saying if an airplane is used solely for the commercial purposes of the company owning and using it, the fuel shouldnīt be taxed.
One secretary of finances (canīt recall which, I think it was Steinbruck) put a "Nichtanwendungserlass" in place - which means the tax offices are to ignore that ruling. Which should be highly illegal, but isnīt...
