The £1000 is permanent not a one-off so 'The lowest-paid armed forces will see a pay rise of over £2,000' to quote the Chief Secretary to the Treasury.

What wasn't obvious when I posted the above was that junior doctors are getting a larger consolidated flat rate uplift, so doctors starting their first post university job they will be getting £3,000 more than those who started last year.
'The national salary pay scales for junior doctors will increase by 6% plus a permanent £1,250 increase. Average basic pay for a first year junior doctor will increase from £29,300 to £32,300
