Good friends with an ex Uk army helicopter pilot, hes now serving in the ADF. I think he said he technically took a minor pay cut on the salary, but the allowances more than make up for it. For example the house he living in is paid for by the army. Hes living in a 5 bed 2 bath house that was 6 years old when he moved in.
