Udet had a flight display routine where he picked up handkerchiefs with his wing tip. Another one was to dismount (and reinstall) the entire main landing gear in flight or throw out "the" stick.
I've never heard of the guy before today, fascinating to learn of his exploits, but what a tragic end.
