I have a french EASA PPL and have applied for a FAA document (14 CFR Part 61, Section 61.75).
I looked at http://www.fcc.gov/commercial-radio-...icense-program and found
"You do NOT need a commercial operator license to operate the following:
Ship stations operating only on VHF frequencies that do not travel to foreign ports or make international communications (unless the vessel carries more than six passengers for hire, or the ship is larger than 300 gross tons and is required by law to carry a radio station for safety purposes)."
I'm not sure if I understand well... I'll be flying with 3 pax. Looks like FCC licence is not needed even for a flight Florida to Bahamas.
Am I wrong ?

Pilot DAR
thx. I have flown mainly Cessna 172 and Diamond DA40 and they are good only for 3 POB. Looks like finding a suitable plane to rent is more challenging than I was expecting .
