I have helped a fair few people process their green card via a DV lottery win, and one thing I have come to realize is that getting bogged down in the finer details isn't really worth your time or effort until you have a clearly defined path to a green card. People get green cards through a variety of methods and they all have their own little quirks and gotchas that might not necessarily be applicable to someone else's path.
People ask me all the time about the finer details of the process before they even get a lottery win. It's all very complicated and the effort it takes to explain it all is pretty much useless unless they have a win already.
So the same advice applies for people here. Either get yourself a lottery win, a spouse, or the all of the stuff you need to even consider the EB stream in place before you start thinking about the minute details.
