There was only one Dart train operating yesterday outside the peak period with the other out of sight in the maintenance area. The Dart was still maintaining a departure every 8 minutes from both stations. The operation officially commences on Monday so not a good start if one of the trains had gone faulty.
The Dart seems to be busier than the shuttle bus ever was yet can’t be despite the bus still operating until midnight Sunday so is still carrying a few passengers.
The fares go up from £3.80 return to £9.80 return from 00.01 on the Monday. There are many passengers who still buy tickets to LAP only and not to the airport. With no ticket desk, passengers are forced to ideal with a ticket machine.
Inside the airport terminal it will be interesting to see if the ticket desk there closes on Sunday as people have always avoided the machines and join a queue to interact with a human.
