Oman Air

Not seen a post on here before for the above carrier and I had not flown with them before but came down from Manchester via Munich with them on Wednesday evening with a colleague.

They code share with Lufthansa and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The inflight entertainment is ok but far short of EK ICE, but food and beverages were both good and Muscat airport is very nice and not as busy as DXB. Also should mention the price is half of EK fair on the route. The A/C was a two class 787 and seats were comfortable and 4 windows to watch the world go by which were not closed at night. Flight in our cabin was about half full.

I am back up to Manchester with them and LH next month as Mrs Mac is coming down for a break after our business is concluded in the Gulf so will update after that.

Lufthansa business is standard European 3 seats with middle blocked out but service was good and a light meal was also good. Aircraft was Airbus 319 and full.

Munich was its usual efficient self and is the airport I see most of, the other being Manchester T1 which we will just gloss over. The lounge they use is Aspire and should be called uninspired. They charge extra for Prosecco at around £7 a glass and Champagne you have to buy the bottle at £40. I only know this courtesy of my colleague who is here with me now who flew down to Munich last weekend and asked for a glass. Needless to say she declined and said the whole place was not a great experience. I am invariably running late and working so usually just Coffee and Juice for me. View is good as you look into apron and runways.

If I was London based I would look at Oman Air for routes to Oman or further East as they dropped Manchester pre Covid.

Cheers
Mr Mac
