To think they would land at Bulolo and not be watched. There is a thousand eyes watching you everywhere in PNG. And despite all the problems in PNG with corruption and poor living conditions, some members of the PNG Constabulary are exceptional and dedicated.
Not to mention the fact that other traffic may have been coming and going in perhaps marginal weather, increasing the risk of a mid-air.
Pity they weren’t arrested in PNG. The prospect of 20 years in Bomana would soon concentrate the minds of any ambitious pilots in the future. The Aussie judicial system will see them out on parole inside 2 years.
And besides, David Cutmore is probably lonely and could use some company.
