Of course as I'm not an ATC this is what I've seen online.
Tower:
Much harder to get into
+ You work with a view
+ Shorter training course length
+ If regional, you're most likely going to have an easier schedule (no overnights)
- Likely to be working in the middle of no where at start
- Harder to go from tower -> approach (maybe?)
Enroute:
+ Based in major population centre
- Almost certainly will have rotating 24/7 roster
- Longer course / more stressful?
