Boeing makes airplanes in very large assembly buildings with a very complex assembly line. Good for them.
For a long, long time, the Boeing Everett tour was free.
Then Phil Condit became CEO, and declared that everything had to be a "profit center" - that good
PR and good marketing no longer mattered (never mind that most people who took the free tour then visited the Boeing store and purchased overpriced souvenirs). So they started charging for the tour ($7 IIRC).
