It was a failure because of many design flaws, only one of which was wings that tended to twist when they shouldn't.
The racy comment was not just my appreciation of the glazing style, it was the fastest of its contemporaries for a while.
I'm amazed it has lasted this long as the family resemblence is, to me, quite obvious.
