It's no different to requiring a type rating/ certain amount of experience etc.
it's not the norm, but there have always been flying jobs based in the UK that required a foreign licence.
Such as N reg business jets etc.
Those companies operating N registered jets should also not be welcome in the UK. Can't really see how the practice should be defended in any shape or form.
Ex transport secretary Grant Shapps owning a N reg aircraft himself probably gives some insight as to why it is allowed.
