Some foreign airlines will NEVER employ a pilot who EVER had an accident, regardless of fault. Ditto with DUI convictions etc. It’s just the way certain cultures view things.
Insurers want to know in order to assess risks and set premiums accordingly. Depending on the accident and whose fault it was (if anyone’s) would determine whether or not you or a potential employer could get insurance and at what cost.
