Whilst I can't be arsed to respond in detail, my point here is that the difference between the younger generations (post Soviet) and older (Soviet) was slowly widening and they never really agreed on much, current events have narrowed that gap considerably and the country (highly homogenous in a few respects admittedly) has united to a great extend and solidified around a common perceived foe (enemy isn't a word I'd like to use).
