Id claim them, I came from a Trade background and all you have to do when audited is be able to explain why you needed them for your work (I know as ive been audited more than once)
One of the years I had purchased really nice dress shoes, Claimed them on Tax, was audited and I showed how the company has work functions (at places like crown, etihad etc) and we have a dress code and are required to attend.
Auditer was happy with that (even showed a photo of me wearing them)
There was some things i should not have claimed but did, when audited they said i couldnt claim them, I agreed and paid the difference. Not that big of a deal if they reject the claim.
