How many times has LRT/LBC claimed confidentiality when trying to bury bad news.
Despite King Charles having taken a ride on the Dart in December, the latest communication from Luton Rising says that the railway will not be open before Easter – the weekend of 9 April – and that the overall cost will be approaching or over £300M. A Luton Council spokesperson said: “The Luton Rising Board has been advised that it is reasonable to expect that costs may exceed £290M. This is subject to ongoing and confidential commercial discussions and will be reported in the usual way when further information is available.”
“Reported
in the usual way” means buried in the minutes of a secret LRT report that won’t be made public that in turn will be reported as a two liner hidden deep in an obscure Council paper with the hope that no one reads it.
This is a financial scandal of epic proportions. Despite the reports, the origin cost was reported as £200m and that it would open in 2020.
Meanwhile on Saturday there is a consultation with the public regarding the scaling back of pensioners bus passes, as the council can’t afford them. The Council leader says it is not the Council’s fault. Is she joking?
