you are Right by saying they showed their true face. On the other it’s incorrect that they have been forced.
if you add the numbers of getting rid of 1800 pilots and rehire some of them, you will see that it would have been possible to keep all of them with a reduced salary between 18 to 24 month. That would have been the same price tag, but with one advantage. They would not need to train new ones to the standards the old ones have been already.
the true face of EK costed many many people and families their entire base of existence.
Just spoke with a friend who went back recently, he said all is very relaxed there, but they are in desperate need of people.
They realised it was a mistake to sack that amount of pilots, but obviously no one will ever admit it.
