For anyone thinking of joining, please please give thought to the revised sickness policy. If you are off for anything more than two weeks at a time, any additional days are deducted from a bank of long term sick days which amounts to a year in total. I know one colleague who was diagnosed with cancer and recovered and he got his medical back within the allowable year of long term sick leave. But, he only needs to break a bone in his body and he will be out of a job, since he does not have enough long term sick days remaining to allow the broken bone to heal.

Previously the amount of allowable long term sick leave would effectively reset, following your return to the flight deck but this is no longer the case.

Many people joining will be blissfully unaware of this and whilst none of us plan to get sick in our lives, the saying 's**t happens' is rather apt!
